Why when you post photos some show exif and some don't?
In my case took some this morning and it doesn't show exif.
Now some from the other day show the info.

In the case of Adobe software, menu SAVE AS JPG retains the Exif info, but SAVE FOR WEB strips it out (to make files smaller for dialup modems).

In the case of the forum, you can post images shown from some other location URL, where you may or may not have retained the Exif in them.

Or you can upload it to this forum, and I am not sure of details, but generally the forum strips the Exif. If exceptions, I don't know about it.

If you use a lens without a CPU built in (like an old AI or AIS lens) you get no EXIF

Yes, you always get Exif regardless of which lens. The camera does that itself. Lenses with no CPU may include no distance or a few cases of other information, but all the basic info is there.

In Photoshop CC you have options as to what metadata to preserve when using the "Save for web" feature. You can choose from all, none, copyright only and others.

In View NX and Capture NX-D, when you "Save" to jpeg the exif is retained, and it shows in this forum. If I resize it with Irfanview, then some times it strips the exif, but always the speed is shown as 10/xxxxx instead of 1/xxxx, though the value is correct when you do the division.

When I upload direct to the forum the Exif data does not show up immediately. I appears after a day or so usually. Don't know why this is

I think there is something a little off on the site. I can open a thread and look at the pictures. Exif data doesn't show up. Play around a little, go to the next page, come back and all of a sudden the exif data shows up on the same pictures that it didn't a minute or two before. I guess it can be on my end too. Ha! I like to see the exif data from others pictures, so I can see what they are having good results with. Just my 2 centavos.
