I'm going AWOL

I have not been as active as I have in the past here on the board. I wanted some of the old times to know that starting Friday I'm going AWOL for about 6-12 weeks and more than likely not entering the Monthly assignments for awhile.
I tore the tendon on my left hand ring finger. Lucky for me it was not on my shutter hand and I'm right handed. I'm having surgery on Friday to reattach it and expect to be down for quite a while. Surgery is only half the cure, extensive physical therapy is next and could last up to six months for the hope of a full 100% recovery.

Best wishes! Though, the post-operation process should not stop you from holding a camera, especially if you mainly use AF. Quite on the contrary - the more you use your (injured) hand, the sooner it will recover...

Ouch! That must have hurt! At least you are aware of how important the physical therapy will be. Good luck as you take a detour and mend. Hope to have you back ASAP! :)

AWOL is unacceptable. We will post you out on sick call and as soon as you can you must return to light duty. In the meantime, best of luck to you. I have had three hand surgeries and way too much therapy but it does improve with proper care.

Quick up date, surgery took an hour and a half, no surprises, went as expected. Under strict orders NOT TO TRY TO MOVE IT, I could rupture it and have to start over. Good news is 48 hours post op and I'm off pain meds already, however Physical Therapy starts Wednesday and I expect to back on them then.

This is how I woke up from surgery. Not only is this thing thick but there is a metal plate under the bandage that is keeping me from bending my wrist and finger, feels like it weighs about 10 pounds lol.

I would post a photo Wednesday when the bandage comes off, but I been on YouTube and seen it already, it's not for the screamish.

Bad news is typing one handed sucks, as a matter of fact a lot of things one handed suck.

Thanks everyone for the comments and wishes.
