How to clean the bodies of your gear?

Since it's the new year and all, and also since I've been in a kind of 'photographers block' for a long time lately,
am thinking of giving my camera bodies and lenses a shine to get the NEW feel and get me going again.

Plus they are actually a tad dirty without a wipe for almost 2 years now.
Curious to know if there are any do's and dont's ?
Does anyone do it at all?

I've seen numerous videos for sensor cleaning but have missed anything about cleaning the bodies and lenses.. The inside of the lens where it fits the body and all..

I find regular brushing with a soft clean paint brush keeps them right and cleans all the tight corners.

A great big blowy thing and a selection of those "pens" that have a brush one end and a covered cleaning pad at the other. And always a nice lint-free cloth (which I keep in a pocket on my strap). Sorry, away from the kit so can't provide names.

I just use a small face towel, soak it with warm water, wring it dry, and then start wiping.

now am sure that things won't get fungi'd or something
