Managed to drop my Nikon AFs 70-300 vr when getting out of the car this morning!
I have a backpack with a side access as well as a top access opening, whilst driving to the spot I wanted to shoot I spotted a photo op and quickly grabbed the camera out of the side pocket. Got back in the car and put the camera on the seat and drove to where I was heading.
Decided I wanted my wide angle lens so opened the main pocket of the bag, switched lenses and jumped out the car with bag and camera in hand. To my horror there was a loud clatter as something landed on the floor, it was my 70-300 rolling away from me, I hadn't zipped up the side pocket of the bag
No obvious major damage but it was with fear and trepidation that I attached it to the camera and switched on to see if it worked. It did . Focused straight away and I have just uploaded the photographs and they are all fine. Think I might put some numbers on the lottery as obviously I am very lucky today!
Anybody else had any lucky escapes with their equipment?
