I need your help guys about my upgrade of gear, and I am really really confused on which to upgrade first. Body or lens. I mean, I could choose either one, but I need both. My case is, if I choose to buy one now, I would get the other by around 6-12 months after. Following will be the list of my current gear, and then the list of lenses and bodies I wish to acquire. I am an events photographer btw.

CURRENT GEAR:

Nikon D80
Nikon D7000
SB-910 Speedlight
Nikon 50mm f/1.4G
Nikon 35mm f/1.8G
Nikon 70-300 f/4-5.6 non VR
Nikon 18-70 f/3.5-5.6

TO ACQUIRE:

Body : Nikon D800E

Lenses:
Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR2
Nikon 17-55 f/2.8
Sigma 85mm f/1.4
Tokina 11-16 f/2.8
Nikon 16mm FISHEYE f/2.8

back to what I need advise on. Which one should I get first, the Nikon D800E or Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR2? Again, if I get one now, I would get the other within 6-12months after.

If you purchase a D800E are you going to keep your D80 and/or D7000? If not, why are you considering purchasing DX lenses?

I am a huge fan of the Nikkor 17-55 - it is by far my most used lens. Rather than the Sigma 85mm 1.4 you might want to consider either the current or previous version of the Nikkor 85/1.8. It is a real sleeper.

What type of photography do you mostly do? If landscape you might want to consider how much use you would get out of the 70-200/2.8. If this is the case, you might want to consider the 70-300 VR. Another sleeper and generally considered very sharp (mine is).

Since you already have a D7000, I would stick to building up my lenses but with emphasis on FX lenses so that when you switch to or acquire a full frame body you do not need to buy more lenses right away.
