I certainly hope not.

I just read this and it's pretty spot on: Dear Hasselblad: I Like That You

Here are the much cheaper versions of the cameras:
Amazon.com: Sony NEX-7 24.3 MP Compact Interchangeable Lens Camera with 18-55mm Lens: SONY: Camera & Photo
Amazon.com: Sony DSC-RX100 20.2 MP Exmor CMOS Sensor Digital Camera with 3.6x Zoom: SONY: Camera & Photo

It's really sad when a company with Hasselblad's reputation will stand in front of you pissing on your leg and telling you

that it's only a WARM RAIN, fully expecting you to believe it.

I wonder when the Rolls Yugo will be coming out?

Really well-written article . . .

Hasselblad was never on my radar, not in my film days and certainly not now.

I refuse to buy a camera that requires me to mortgage my house.

This reminds me of "Martha Steward" drapes at Kmart :). Volvo did the same thing with their low end cars, Nissan I believe. Too bad when a great name has to pimp itself out, means they are near the end.

No, I wouldn't, that's for sure. Besides the fact that it's not even their own design, the grip makes the camera look downright ugly! I thought the wood grip was a joke at first, until I went to Hasselblad's Web site. YIKES! I think I'll stick with my Nikons. They work with all my lenses, and they are very pleasant to look at, not ugly.

I also read the article that John gave the link for. I love the toyota/lambourgini analogy. If you haven't read the article, be sure to check the comments.
