Sad, but oh so true. Where did the world go wrong during that time? I was there but can't pin it down to one thing. Maybe too many do-gooders who didn't their asses whipped when they were young tearaways.

I wasn't around in 1957... born in '84, graduated in 2002. Even in the 10 years I've seen a difference. From stories from my dad (born in 54), there has been a HUGE difference. He told me he used to be able to smoke in school, lol.

It may also have a lot to do with the number of people in the world. Remember when the population broke through the 7 billion mark many months ago? The BBC was running a page which enabled you to calculate how many people there were on the day you were born. When I was born 61 years ago there were about 2.6 billion. That is a hell of an increase with everyone wanting a better standard of living. However, still too much nonsense about "human rights" of murderers and serial killers. Too many lawyers out to make big bucks by representing the monsters in the world. It's all about money.

It's when people got too scared to talk to their neighbors. Once that happened, they had to call the police to solve all of their neighborhood problems. Once that happened, the police became more and more powerful and more militarized... And now we have a SWAT team that comes to schools to look for drugs that they never find, or kids get arrested because they bring a cap gun to school... And so on and so on.

Anytime anything happens, a lot of people have the first reaction to call the police. Well, guess what? The police don't want to handle your petty crap anyway, but when you give them the power to do so, eventually they take advantage of that. And when you ask schools to do the same with the police, then guess what? This is the inevitable end. The cops will come to school for any reason now.

You could smoke in school, but then the war on drugs got really powerful and had lots of money injected into it... And they started programs against any and all drugs in school, and so there went the smoking. And in came the cops to arrest you if you were caught smoking.

Same age. The really funny thing is listening to guys about 10 years older than me talk about their kids. If I did one of the idiotic things their children did i would have been in a world of hurt. Now the parents live in fear of the kids instead of the other way around.
