Just started a new blog

As you can see from my signature, i started a blog. It is an easy way for me to put thoughts and opinions in one place that i can keep track of. Please don't think i am trying to be a Thom Hogan or anyone else. It's just me, a regular guy who enjoys his Nikon and taking pictures. It's very simple and straightforward and i don't go off talking about stuff i know nothing about. Every single one of you is welcome to take a look, leave a comment, leave a suggestion, add information, etc. It may seem a bit disjointed at this time, but i am working on it each day. In honesty, i could care less about traffic. Im doing this for myself and for family and friends so they can see some of my photos. Thanks

Thanks. Took a while to figure it all out, lol. Never done something like this before. Was happy to see that they had a yellow/black theme ;)

Thanks. I am editing the content at the moment. I find it's always good to go over what you wrote a few days ago. In regards to photographers, it is really aimed at amateurs/hobbyists like myself.

One think I think it will be give your blog a better look: gange your background pic. The lives on the left corner up are a bit trouble maker, the eyes are going always there.

And because you post lots of pics, so your background takes away the beauty of them.

Small update: Writing my blog was not a vehicle to gain any sort of popularity or to go up against the likes of Nasim or Thom < no one could really compete with those guys anyhow. However, i have been surprised at how far my blog has reached. People from all over the world have visited and it's nice to know that i can share with my global community. Here is a list of Countries from which people have visited:

Just a little update: I had to copy and paste the coutries here because it was much easier to do than type out or figure out which ones I already posted. I have been mighty surprised on how far and wide my blog has reached. Afghanistan?? Well, I hope I am not helping out the Taliban in anyway, lol. Anyhow, it is just really nice to see that my global community is growing. It's nice to share with my fellow citizens of this world:)

I was in Web hosting for several years. A lot of those hits are not people. They are spiders (Web Crawlers) They are used for two different things. The first being web indexes for search engines. The second set is not so nice, they are looking for week points they can exploit. Wordpress is very popular and is prone to attack. You won't always know that you have been compromised. Hidden code can be there just to put links to porn or Viagra. these links are not seen but help them in search engine placement. Find out hao to see the page source code in your browser when you are looking at the site. It will look like this.

Just look through it once a week and see if you see links to any sites that should not be there. The other thing they do is to exploit
the site to send email. YOu can get your site shut down for this one. The main thing to do is to do any and all updates to Wordpress when
they come up.

I have several site of my own and I have designed and maintain several others. I have a reminder on my phone that tells me to sweep them all. I had one recently that I had forgotten that I had something on and I was going to use the name for testing a new site. I went to it only to find it had been banned due to an exploit. Talk about Yikes. I just went in and deleted the entire site and started over. Not a big deal since it was a junk site anyway. If you built and are maintaining the site yourself be sure to get a weekly backup to store locally. You should find that in CPanel.

Thanks for all the info Don. However, i am just logging in through wordpress.com. I did not venture into downloading anything and building it up myself. Perhaps one day i may, so the info you provided me is good. Thanks
