hello,

im on the hunt for a netbook mostly going to be used for college so it is easier to transport my work to and from college as i will also use the netbook at college not the college computers. i dont really want anything to pricey so i think a budget of £250 will be fine for what i need, like i said all i really want it for is college but i dont want anything so terrible its gunna take half hour just to log on and open up microsoft office word, and yes i have word to put on there so that dosent need to go in with the £250 budget that budget is for the netbook. thanks people

I just picked up an hp mini, 1 GB Ram, 250GB Hard Drive. It comes with Windows 7 starter edition which I replaced with 7 Home premium. Works well, doesn't over heat when on your lap, since it does not have vents on the bottom. I think the keyboard is about 2/3 size but is marginal at best for extended typing. Great for surfing and downloading pics on. It was $299 at our walmart. Seems to run forever on a charge, maybe 5 hours or so.

Just in case it is still relevant... go look at the Samsung NC XXX models...great keyboard, matt screen and .... up to 10 HOUR battery life...really.....I love mine.

If the budget allows it, check out the ThinkPad X series. Same size as a netbook but full laptop capable. If you are planning on doing any post processing, you just won't be happy with a netbook. I purchased a refurbished X201 from the Lenovo Outlet. I have the extended battery and easily get 9-11 hours with an i5 processor!
