Shipping issues resolved…(Was this where ……. drops the ball)

Re: This is where ADORAMA drops the ball..............

I have seen sometimes what I call the slow boat method, where, since I did not pay for the 2-3 day shipping, I swear, they print the label, and put in a side room a few days, because,, well NYC is not that far from me, and if they allowed UPS to pick up,, well even the lowest cost shipping would be there in like 1 day, but,, then why would I pay extra for fast shipping? so, my theory is that the product is just slowed down a bit.........after all, your other items got there...eventually.

I've used UPS to ship many things and I know from experience that you can't trust that on-line tracking number for beans. I've had things arrive before they were ever "acknowledged" as even being picked up by UPS. So I wouldn't get too worried about what you see on-line, chances are it's on a truck and headed your way.

I suppose it depends. The things I buy from Amazon delivered by UPS are spot on every single time.

So I guess you don't have your D800 as of yet? And your D700 is gone too? How does it feel to go back to the 5100?

Dave, I don't disagree. But, maybe Adorama, as a large volume customer, should force some improvements at UPS. I will always use USPS before being forced to use UPS.

I'm just frustrated and want my new camera.

6 or 60, some people are still just impatient kids. :frown-new:

Did you choose their basic economy shipping where they quote 7-10 business days? What is likely happening is that the purchase process generates an invoice, which includes a shipping invoice complete with tracking number. This then goes to the warehouse where it waits in a pile for someone to put the box together and slap the UPS sticker on and put it in the pile for them to pick up. It's in the UPS system because it gets in there when the folks at Adorama generate it, but it doesn't have anything to do with UPS until Adorama puts it in their hands. Works the same with FedEx. Yes, there are times when things go unscanned, or a tracking number changes and you don't get updates, but by and large when you see this then your package is still in the originator's hands and not with the shipping company. From what I've seen with Adorama, their economy shipping has less to do with how long it takes UPS to get it to you than it does with how long it takes them to get it to UPS. I'll usually fork over the extra couple bucks for basic UPS ground to avoid this frustration.

So here is how shipping from Adorama works. It doesn't matter whether you have selected 'free' 7-10 day shipping or overnight.

ALL UPS packages we ship will go out of our doors the same day…..unless something really out of the ordinary happens. UPS’s last pick up from us is after 8.00 pm M – Th,

Due to the volume we do with them we have pick ups and swaps throughout the day. We have 5 shipping doors, 3 of which always have a UPS trailer in them at all times. As they get filled one of our guys calls for swaps. UPS then comes with an empty trailer and takes the full trailer. That trailer goes back to the UPS hub (which there are several of them) and the trailer sits in their yard until they run the sort at night.

If you prefer to specify how your order ships, eg not UPS, you only need call your order in to one of our sales guys:

Re: This is where ADORAMA drops the ball..............

Adorama sends out a notice saying the camera "shipped" on Jan. 2 and on January 5th, UPS hasn't even received the package. This is my 2nd shipping problem out of 3 orders with Adorama.

I can assure you that if we tell you it shipped, it left the building! (see below)

The most likely explanation is that, with over 60% increase in 'traffic' at this time of year, that your package simply missed being scanned at the hub.

But if you'd like me to see if we need to open a trace as a lost package, please email me directly: [email protected]

Re: This is where ADORAMA drops the ball..............

Hello Helen,

I can appreciate the Damage Control, but there are a few facts that aren't addressed.......
simply giving you the full picture on how the shipping works

1) My order did NOT go out on the same day, even though the order was made early.
not sure how you know that?

2) According to the Adorama Delivery Map, my order should have arrived yesterday, even though it didn't ship on the same day.
Without your order number, I don't know whether you selected free, standard, overnight, 2-day or 3-day shipping. If you can email me that info I will be delighted to check it out.

3) Since nobody knows where my package actually is, or when it will actually arrive, should I make plans to stay home all week (since a signature is required), or just Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday?
if your package is lost, then we need to get UPS to open a trace

As I said, I can appreciate your personal efforts, but there is a problem in Adorama's system and it should be addressed at the highest levels. You can only blame UPS so much, and then you have to accept your responsibility.
With the best will in the world, there isn't anything we can do if UPS loses an item during shipping, or forgets to scan it into their system.

Helen, I don't want to argue with you.

You have all the excuses pretty well rehearsed. And, any discussion is not going to change the facts. As for asking you to open a trace..... after all this, you think I should be required to make this request? Customer Service?
I can't ID your order without an order number!

Re: This is where ADORAMA drops the ball..............

You're treading water Helen. HOW do I know it didn't ship on the same day...........

I placed order on 12/31 and according to the Adorama email notice, the package shipped on 1/2.

Now, if my math is right, that's not the same day.

Or possibly I shouldn't trust the Adorama notification email.

And again, let's blame UPS.
