Hi
a quick hello as I've finally got around to joining a Nikon forum.
Started getting back into serious photography earlier this year, when redundancy gave me the money to get a DSLR. Many years ago I was a keen photographer (late 80's erly 90s) but years of bringing up the kids meant cheep point and shoot photography.
I started of with a D3100 18-55 kit lens and a 55-300 zoom, with a 50mm 1.8 d for portraits (manual focus only). I recently upgraded to a D3200 body and added a Tamron 60mm macro to my lenses.I try to shoot manual where possible, favoring portraits (when I can get the family to volunteer), macro (flowers!) and buildings.
I do love the pictures from the D3200 and find it an interesting challenge to use, this may sound strange but I think the D3100 could give sharper pictures under a lot of situations, but the D3200 has much more detail, possibly diffraction issues? The one thing the D3200 has taught me is to use ISO more and not be scared of higher values, allowing faster shutter speeds.
Currently been working away fromhome since April, so not getting as much time to play as I would like, but getting to see other parts of the UK that I normally would not get to see so when I do get time I have different things to shoot (been in London for 9 weeks now!).
Loving getting back into photography , its a nice gentle hobby for my mid life crisis (better than a motobike, lol) and with numerous Grandkidsis proving usefull, I am also finding myself looking at the world more intently and seeing interesting shots in all manor of things.

Hi Thanks for the replies, I am working on site at the moment so have very limited internet access. i am looking forward to getting some images posted and getting some constructive critisism.
Since I got my DSLR I have found I have become much more critical of my shots!!! something that didn't appen with cheep point and shoot. As I'm in a hotel internet speed is rather lacking.
