hi fellow shutterbugs! I was a wedding photographer back in the film days. digital left me in the dust. Well I just can't stay away. got a Nikon D7000 and decided to conquer my fear of digital. There is so much to learn! how long do you think it will take me? I know almost nothing. Any encouragement for a 60yr old gal who still has a lot of creativity left in her? THANX

It will take forever!!!!

Just kidding. Looks like you are making the right 1st steps by reaching out into the comunity.
Some helpful people here that will offer advice... I, on the other hand, am in the 'absorb all the info I can to learn this stuff' mode.

you should find the learning fast. set it in manual mode, and use it JUST like your old film camera!

Its the software that is more work, and if you have a friend that is willing to give lessons, I recommend. Also, consider buying copies of digital camera Mags that have video lesson DVDs,, find one that says something like Basic Adobe photo lessons. Watch each lesson and do the same with the Jpeg they supply.

Welcome back to the fold, I was an film guy, and switched to digital 10 years ago, and loving it.

Welcome !!

I really wouldn't be scared about digital, I bought my 1st DSLR back in 2004, when the D70 came out and have just bought a D90 body.

I really don't think about what camera I am using at the time, as a long time film user, 99% of the time I used transparency film, so you had to get it right in the camera, and couldn't rely on PS after the image had been taken, forget about the digital bit and just get the composure and exposure correct and your sorted ...

Like you I did many wedding shoots back in the days of film, but most of my work was for magazines and travel brochures, using a Mamiya 330S TLR, cracking camera, but I'm getting on just fine with digital .....
