Hi fellow Nikonites,

I am a Swedish gal living in Texas since the 90's. I am mother of two pretty active kiddos and also have 4 four-legged kids I love to take pictures of.

I am a Nikon convert coming from Canon...was given a Rebel 35mm in 2000 and later I upgraded to a Xsi and just a year ago or so I upgraded again to 60D, camera is amazing...but I still wasn't happy about the picture clarity or colors....so here I am with a new Nikon, the D5100, as a person with two brothers both avid Nikon shooters I feel I can finally communicate pics with them ( they have D80 and D7000 respectively)...I am happy to be here.

I realize this might be a step down camera from the 60D, in some peoples minds, but that is exactly were I want to be, I am eager to start shooting kids, pets, nature and just beautiful anythings....

enjoy,, and now you can continue the journey. I am not sure if one company has the advantage over the other. I am a lens junky, so I am locked into Nikon for 50 years of lens that can go right onto the Fmount. The 5100 is a great camera with the same sensor as the D7000 which produces vibrant pictures. I have been very pleased with my D7000 and consider it almost ideal.

Welcome to Nikonites, Swedepea (hehehe...cute name :) ). Glad you decided to finally get a REAL camera! ;) lol Enjoy your new D5100, and looking forward to seeing your pics. :)
