Hello Nikonites. I am a new member from sunny South Florida. I bought a Minolta SR 101 in 1972 and had my own dark room at age 16. I shot with a Nikon F2 and N90 along the way to digital. I lost my way for many years and didn't do much with photography. I found simple point n shoot cameras adequate to illustrate the articles and classes I taught in the fire service.
I learned a little about DSLRs when I needed to get action shots of my wife's Search and Rescue dogs. With the point and shoots I always got the back half of the dog due to the shutter lag. I bought a D50 and it worked OK, but now I am ready to get serious about photography again. I will be upgrading to a D7000 soon and I am looking forward to renewing the passion I felt as a teen. I will retire next year after 37 years as a firefighter so I will have plenty of time.
