Back button focusing and visible focus points

I am hoping someone can help me. I have set up BBF and use it with single auto focus point and continuous focusing. However if I alter from single autofocus point to say D9 or D51, only one focus point remains visible when I take images. Is this right or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I don't do BBF, but am sure someone will come along to help you.

Nothing is wrong - what you "see" when dynamic focus is selected is the aiming focus point. Dynamic will automatically shift to another focus point if your aimed at subject moves while you are holding the focus button. The movement is limited to 9 or 51 points from your example.

You are doing the best thing by experimenting till you find what works for you, and your subjects.

Hope this helps explain dynamic mode

Also (added) - Welcome to the forum, please let us know what camera model you have for some more detailed suggestions
