Hello everybody. I'm a newbie with what I think is a good DSLR that a good friend let me have at a steal quite a few years ago. Of course I was intimidated after only being a point and shoot kind of guy and failed to get into it. I'm getting a little older and not pushing myself with my usual pastimes, so I hope to have more time to learn what I know to be an incredibly rewarding and satisfying hobby. I'm just going to lurk and read and listen for a while but hope to start asking questions soon. Thanks in advance!

Hey, welcome! I see from your profile you're shooting with a D7000 (before anybody asks, lol). My wife's family is in Norfork, just a stretch outside Mountain Home. You live in a beautiful area! Bet you can get a ton of great landscape and wildlife pictures where you are.

Don't be shy about jumping in and adding to conversations. Everybody here is very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. You'll find help whenever you ask. No need to lurk!

All the best to you, and looking forwards to seeing some of your pics soon!

Thanks! Norfolk and that area is very pretty. I live close to the upper Buffalo River and hope to take many photos there. I almost said I have a D7000 but since I put it in my profile, I didn't want someone to say "yeah, it's in your profile"! Haha!

Thank you, Dangerspouse for the link to the D7000 specs. Very handy. The Hey Grandpaw link Needa posted for D7000 tips is a good one.

Welcome!

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

Welcome to the forum @cpresoz. I hope you enjoy it here. That D7000 is a nice camera. This is a helpful crowd. I learned a lot from here when I started.

Thanks, Danno. I'm getting into the camera and read a bit on using it and last week took some small bird photos in Aperture Priority mode. Not very happy with focusing but that's where I can learn and improve. This weekend I tried Shutter Priority with a close by waterfall and was pretty happy. Definitely room to improve but that seems the main fun with cameras.

Welcome and just to reiterate what Dangerspouse said:

Everybody here is very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. You'll find help whenever you ask.

It is the friendliest forum I have ever came across!
