    Another new Nikonite

Hi Folks! I'm looking forward to learning much here as I pursue my life-long passion of photography. I'm shelving my D90 and have ordered a D850, eagerly awaiting it's arrival! I plan to use my AF-S 18-200mm Gll ED VR lense initially. Thoughts??

Welcome to the forum, is that an FX lens or DX lens, if its DX you will only be able to use crop mode on the D850.

Welcome to the forum. Since that is a DX lens you will need to shoot in crop mode initially. You might want to keep your eye out for an FX lens to take full advantage of your 850. Depending on your budget you may look at a Tamron 70-200 f 2.8 G2. It is a very nice lens.

Thanks Dan, very helpful info! Love this forum! I just ordered the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. But wow....$$$! I’ll definitely look into a Tamron (or similar), for my next lense!

Yes, it is. What I learned going from a D300 to D500, is that the resolution is so good that you need pretty good glass and much better shooting technique. Part of the learning. It is one of the things that keeps the hobby interesting. Seems like you learn new things forever.
