I have been using digital cameras for about 12 years and photography is a hobby for me. I started out with 1/2 inch sensor zooms and slowly moved to full frame. I currently do not have a camera and have decided my next one will be the Nikon D750. High ISO/low noise performance is why I have decided on the D750. My past full frame was a Pentax K1. I sold my K1 due to the obvious lack of lens choices and simply do not have the patience to wait any longer.

I will post more in the gear section concerning my lens questions. I look forward to becoming a new owner of a very fine camera and lens in the coming days.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I switched gears from the D750 and purchased a D500 and 200-500 f/5.6 ED VR. They arrived late yesterday and I just took it out to a nearby lake for the first time today. I have been wanting to shoot birds for a long time; which is the reason I left Pentax. It really came down to reach vs low light performance and I chose reach. Here is one I shot today. Nothing great but I can tell from just one day, this setup has all the potential in the world.

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new gear. I can tell you that you will not be disappointed with the 200-500 f/5.6 lens. I love mine. The only reason I do not use it more is its weight, but it is a great lens that stays on my D7200.

Hope you enjoy it here. This is a helpful bunch and a lot of folks shoot birds.
