Newbie questions D90 vs D7 *** series ..... & Hello

Hello from Sunny Buckinghamshire.

Just got keen to pick up my photography again after a long while.

I have two D90 bodies, an 18mm Nikkor, a 35mm Nikkor, and the usual 18-105 and a 200 Tele, all autofucus on the D90.

I just used to point and shoot as my pics were mainly for work and time-sensitive.

I get very good results, but I would like to upgrade as the D90s do not have live screens.

My questions are as follows (There will be more)

If I upgrade, one of the features that would be very desirable (essential) to me is to have the backscreen function as a viewfinder ... not just for review, but "live" when I am shooting stills.

What models specifically feature this? (My first post was ambiguous and I have had a reply suggesting that the D7 *** series do have this)

So if this is the case, and I get (say) a D7200 body ....Will my existing kit fit it? Lenses, batteries, flash etc?

Look forward to some help here, all the reviews are a bit "Over my head" and seem slightly ambiguous, seem to assume the back screen majors on editing not shooting!

Thanks in adavnce,

JD

If jt fits the d90, should fit any other Nikon. Be careful about the new "p" lenses. Don't fit d90. I shoot a d90 and have found no reason to change. Just buy good glass.

Are you talking about an articulating back screen?

I'm not sure on the battery, I want to say NO on that. Everything else should work from your d90. All the current Nikon DSLR have the rear screen for stills and video. I think everything newer than the d90 starting with d3100 should have live view.

What is your need for the live screen? It will run the battery down faster. Most of us don't use it for everyday shooting. Its a little 'clunky'. Shutter opens, screen come on. When you snap the picture, the shutter closes, opens for the set time, closes, and then opens back up to return to live view. It certainly has its uses though, but not the best for everyday shooting. It is good for certain focus situations. You can zoom in and manually focus with great precision. It is not a good indicator that you have exposure correct.

D7200 is a good choice.

Thanks chaps.
All I can say is "Duuuuuuur!"
That at least proves conclusively I am a newbie.
I just found the live button and it works just fine.
I had it all along.

Odd that it isn't mentioned in any obvious place in the manual.
No excuse though:

Duuuuuuur and thanks!

OK, my original question is answered thanks, but "Articulating backscreen" could also provide some big benefits .... not the least of which could be to shoot at waist level like the old Rolieflex film cameras my Dad and I had way back.

Are there models with such articlation then?

Yes. If you want to stick with crop sensor the 5*** series has a tilting screen as does the D7500 and D500.
I find the tilt screen handy.
