Hi Everyone,

I was a professional photographer (people for ad work) (Brooks Institute of Photography grad) but life changed when I became a single dad when my daughter was a 1 year old. Ended up getting a "regular job" since my photo work had me traveling too much to take care of my daughter. Well now my daughter is 17 1/2 and I'm ready to get back into photography. Re-learning with the digital equipment and PP software and then we will see where it can take me. Glad I found this site and already had helpful comments on some quick pics I put up in the gallery section.

I look forward to seeing your work and learning through your advice and posts and pics.

Also my Tamron lens is a 10-17mm Fisheye DX Manual Focus but couldn't find that either.

Overall for P mode are there a certain settings most people seem to like best;

Sharpness
D-Lighting
WB
etc....

A good starting point for clean crisp shots of people/portraits and also a setup for scenic shots?

Hi, Rick, and welcome to the forum! Interesting history you have, but I'm glad, as I am sure your daughter is, that you put her above all else :)
I'm looking forward to seeing your work!

You can check out the galleries I posted with just a few shots ... more to come. Happy to be back with my finger on the button :) Re-learning as I go, the tools have changed a lot. No darkrooms, no chemicals or thermometers big timers. The technology is very cool just a lot of new tools and techniques to learn. Need to learn to spend most of my time looking through the viewfinder and not at my computer monitors messing with Photoshop and all the other software (new age darkroom). I need to make the tools extensions of my eyes as they used to be so if i see it and think it I can make it look that way in the final image. Well the learning is a big part of the fun so I'm diving in. Any recommendations on how to learn to be very capable at Photoshop?
