Hi all; Been a camera guy since the 60's as a kid and shooting film with Minolta gear. A few years ago I graduated from point and shoot digital cameras to my first DSLR, a Sony A58 and assorted used Minolta glass. But after getting to handle a full bodied Sony A77ii I knew I liked the size. weight and features, but way out of my budget now.

So after one night of some side tracked watching Youtube videos' and coming across some current one's on the Nikon D200 I felt a strong wanting for one. Searching on the bay I wanted to pull the trigger on one, but looked at my local camera store and they had a couple of them used. Ended up getting what I felt was a great deal and a 28-85 lens to go with it. Now the learning process begins again.

So long story short that is why I'm here. Always had a soft spot for Nikon gear but this my first Nikon purchase.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I know the D200 is ancient technology these days but I'm liking the size and features, plus hoping it will push me to learn more because of the limitations.

Here is one of my first pics from it.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

I used a D200 from when it was first introduced until early 2016, when the D500 was introduced, when I moved up to a D7200. I still have my D200 as a backup and it is still a very good camera. To this day, I wish Nikon had made a D400, perhaps the D7200 guts in a D300 body, instead of the crippled (to me, at least) D500.
