Hello!

I'm about 6 months into my new D7200. After 6 years of shooting with an entry level Canon Rebel t2i, I did a boatload of research and landed with my new Nikon. I have the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm as my day to day, but more and more and using my treat of the AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR. That said, I still need to do my homework on the combined settings of the lens and my camera. I love shooting wildlife, birds most specifically.

I'm also a fan of my iPhone 7plus. The best camera you have is the one you have with you, and many times that's my go to!

Looking forward to sharing and learning, both!

I am always curious as to why people chose one camera brand over another. Is there a compelling reason you made the switch?
Welcome.

Welcome.

Compelling, not so much. A mixture of reasons really - and I think Canon and Nikon, for my purposes, would equally do the job. Ultimately it came down to trying a friend's D7200 and liking it - and the quality/price for the 200-500 zoom. :)

The 200-500 is a fantastic lens, especially at the price, so I think you made a good choice. :)

I've been able to capture some nice shots, still getting my feet wet - and just a bit ago found a thread here on back button focus! All set up and can't believe I didn't know about this. What a difference it will make in taking birds/wildlife in action!! :)

Welcome from another forum newbie.

I also made the switch from Canon to Nikon, still getting used to the lens mounting in the opposite direction!

Welcome to the forum. Many folks here use the 200-500 lens here and many on D7200s. Hope you enjoy it here. Look forward to seeing some of your photos.
