I've been tinkering with photography for a number of years.
Currently have a D7000, and typically photograph outdoors scenery.

Hope to hone my skills with tips and examples from other nikon users, and finally get out of "auto" mode.
Thanks,
DJ

Welcome to Nikonites. You might start with aperture priority to get out of auto mode. In full manual you will need a good understanding of the exposure triangle to get consistent results. The trip is fun and sometimes frustrating but well worth the effort.

hello and welcome.

a frustrating trip from auto to manual, we have all went thru it, took me a few weeks, first black pics then white, blurry then it started to click.

Good luck and stick at it, its well worth it.

Welcome to the forum. The trip out of auto to manual is worth the effort. The other thing to consider, if you have not already, is shooting in RAW rather than JPEG.

You picked a good place to pick up some tips and ask questions. Most everyone is eager to help.

Welcome DJ. Enjoy the ride from auto to manual. The nice thing about digital is that it doesn't cost anything to process the photos and you can see the results instantly as you go unlike film days when it was a waiting game. Ha!
