Hi everyone,

Both a newbie to this forum as well as Nikon equipment, having switched from another Japanese brand. Not quite a beginner, but by no means an experienced photographer - but willing to learn.

I purchased a D7200 body a few weeks back, while on holiday in Cape Town and added a Tamron 16-300mm lens for all round use.

I live in Johannesburg (actually 20-odd Km south-south-east in Alberton), and spend most of my spare time training for my number 1 sport (cycling). Photography is there to get me to spend a little more of that time doing non-cycling related stuff.

Hope to share some photos from the 52-week Dogwood Photography Challenge, as well as view (admire) photos from others.

The irony in my topic heading is that it's been raining non-stop for nearly 20 hours (Friday evening to Saturday late afternoon).

Edit: corrected some spelling and grammar errors.

Welcome to the forum. I have a D7200 and really enjoy it. Enjoy this forum as well. Weather can keep you cooped up. You have rain... We have 16 degrees F for a high today. Look forward to seeing some of your photos.

I'm not a fan of FB, and prefer Instagram as my choice of image sharing apps.
@geraldm24 is my handle, and contains a mix of everything, including both 2016 and 2017 editions of the Dogwood Photography 52-week challenges that I'be decided to do in parallel. I started the 2016 challenge thinking it was the 2017 one.

I'm sure as time goes by, I'll be here more often to pick up tips, and to develop my skills further - not forgetting to like the photos that inspire me.

Welcome. Great people on here. In regards to cycling, are you a professional?
No, not a pro but I do race in our local age category events (a mix of former pros and competitive amateurs).

Work full time, so cycling and photography is for fun, although sometimes it (training) doesn't feel like fun.

I see I might need to edit the original post to read: "most of my spare time".
