Hello there! I believe it's a good idea to check for some video guide, tutorials or so on about your exact camera model on YouTube. Many people do rewiews on specific camera model where they usually suggest settings and setups. Try, doesn't cost anything 😉

been looking for ages on the web and cant seem to find anything suitable for my needs. I am after a review or recommendations on what settings to save for manual settings. just to give me a starting point.

Its a bit difficult to advise on all settings but for bird photography i would go for, shutter priority, auto ISO maxing at 800 shutter speed set on a as is basis depending on light but 400/500th if you can, continuous low, area focus AF,auto focus AF-F.

If you think you may want to try to catch moving subjects, walk round with it on the green auto mode, its the best i have found for catching moving targets, the problem is if you walk round in M mode it takes to long for the camera to set its self in auto, but going from auto to M is near instant.

Dont think you can take long distant shots as the IQ will suffer, its better for small subjects not too far away,a couple of examples from my P900.

The issue is probably more related to what you're looking for... There really are no, "good all round setting to use for various things (sports, birds, dogs etc)". Good photography is not a set of "recipe cards" you dial in based on subject. You need to understand, at a minimum, what's called the Exposure Triangle. Once you understand these three basic principles, you apply them to your immediate shooting situation. There is simply no way to short-cut this learning and boil everything down to a collection of "suggested settings" that will guarantee even usable, much less good or excellent, results.

Here are some links to get you started:
