Hello from Alberta Canada

Just joined and wanted to say hello from Southern Alberta, Canada. I'm in the process of preparing for a busy season of photographing rodeos. In the off season I take my photos and create art work from them. It keeps me busy and pays for my camera gear and computer.

Hey, great to see another Albertan on board.
I'm from up north - near Cold Lake.

Bonnyville has an annual rodeo - the chuck wagons are big up here. I've never tried to photography that action, maybe I should give it a go.
Maybe you should post an "Advice on Rodeo Photography" post and share your know how.

One of my shots of an Native Dancer at Aboriginal Days last year was used in our local tourism brochure - lots of colour and movement when they dance.

BTW do you follow the circuit or just shoot down south?

Thanks for the warm welcome. There's always something to learn and nice to hang out with people who own the same type of gear.

Fortkentdad - photograph those chuckwagons. There is nothing more exciting especially if you can get down in the dirt and close to them. Those horses love to run and you can feel the excitement, passion and strength when you get close. I cover the southeastern corner of Alberta, based out of Medicine Hat, for the amateur rodeo, CCA, Chinook and Border Country. I don't have my pro rodeo card and don't intend to get one although I do volunteer photograph for the local stampede board which hosts a pro rodeo as well as chuckwagons. I'm all about the amateur rodeo contestant. Two of my images, which I digitally painted, won Calgary Stampede this year, Best of the Contest as well as the First Nations category.

Would be grand if you could post those images for us to see.

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to some rodeo photos and some good hints on equipment and techniques.
