Hey guys i just wanted to create a thread to introduce myself.... where to begin

I first started shooting a few years ago with a Canon XTI (450d) and had that for almost 2years... then i had to sell that camera to free up some cash as i had lost my fulltime job. Got back on my feet and picked up a Nikon D5000... great camera... after having that camera for about a year or so, i traded it up for a Canon 50D.. then just recently someone offered me more then what i got for the 50d for.... so me not doing any research, sold it (kind of regret it, but gives me opportunity to upgrade).... i guess u can say that i change cameras alot!!! im trying to get the feel for a body that i can hold onto for a long time.

Now im just about ready to pick up a new body and have been doing some research and i am coming back to a nikon body, not only i got my best shots out of the d5000, but i also have a few friends that i can borrow lenses and eqp from.

My Dilemma right now is.... Should i pick up a D90 Body and some good lenses, dish out for the D7000 and dont look back, or pick up a D300s for the semi pro body...??? what are your opinions

Well i want to thank you for the welcome in advanced!!

Curt will tell you to get the D7000. He raves about it. :) I have no doubt it's a great camera, though. Personally, if I was given the choice you're making yourself, I'd go for the D300s. The quality, build, feel, heft, and the options it has.......to me........it's the logical choice. Like you said yourself, it's a pro camera, so if you want pro photos, you get a pro camera. :) Remember........these are just my opinions. Others may vary. ;)
Truthfully, any of those cameras will serve you well. You can't go wrong with any one of them.
Oh.........welcome to the forum. :) Got any questions, just ask. :)

Hi and welcome to the Nikonites Community. If the D300s is in your budget I would go for it. While the D7000 is a great camera the D300s has more pro features which you will eventually want to learn and use. However either camera will give you excellent service and pictures, you have to remember it's the photographer who takes great pictures not the camera. If you have any questions about using your new camera or just need some input on your shots we will be glad to help.

LOL... Jack is right the most up to date camera body by Nikon right now is the D7000.
It will have everything you will want & need. I have had mine now for about half a year and it is a fantastic camera.
Spend the money and don't look back.....lol. Two card slots, high ISO, new sensor, alloy body, etc.
It is not all that much more, but you get a lot for your buck.
But the best advice is go in the camera shop and try them all, buy the one that feels the best & fits your budget:).

Hello. Lafa, and welcome to the forum! My vote is for the 300s. But you have to decide which features are most important to you and which suits your style of photography. Any of those you mention are great!

Good luck!

Get the D-7000 body! It is very well built. Unless you are going to bang your equipment around (disrespect it) like some overloaded "pro" (I was one of those before I retired two years ago!), the D-7000 will do more and is generally better than the D-300. The D-300 is not even considered by "pros" as a "pro" camera due to its having a built-in flash! LOL Go figure! I sold my D-300 and got a lighter weight, body: The D-7000 You will not be sorry.
