Greetings from the far west
Hi, new member here from British Columbia, Canada.
After several years of abstinence I have decided to get back into photography. Living in an area of beautiful scenery ( I have attached a few sample photo's) and abundant wildlife I find I miss very much using my old Olympus Om 1n 35mm SLR especially now that I am retired and have lots of spare time. I have just ordered a D5300 with the 18-55 and 55-200 lenses which should arrive early next week. I have some basic knowledge of the principles of photography and the use of SLR cameras but I think the DSLR is a beast of a different colour and will provide me with many challenges. I'm hoping that this forum will provide some of the answers and stimulate me to go further in this fascinating hobby.

Welcome. And you're right, digital will present you with a much greater learning curve as you need to master computer software as well.
Nice pictures and welcome.

Welcome and I do not think you will find digital all that daunting. These modern cameras are each a unique teaching tools that can inform you in real time what your photo looks like and what your settings are so that you can make corrections right away.
