Hello fellow Nikonites,

Gerb here from Southwest lower Michigan. I figured that since I've been posting and lurking for a bit, it's about time to introduce myself. I've had a D3100 for the past year with the standard 18-55, a 55-200, and a 50 1.8. I picked up a D7000 for Christmas and am selling my D3100 off to my cousin, another new soon-to-be Nikonite.

Anyway, I still consider myself a beginner in terms of my skills, though I do try use M most of the time.

My other hobby's are my family, John Deere garden tractors, Volkswagen Beetles (see my avatar), genealogy, and photography.

Thanks for the site, threads, and all the feedback. I could spend hours here every day just catching up!

Hiya Gerb. :) Welcome to Nikonites. No need to lurk anymore....you're in! :)

The best lens you have is the 50 1.8, followed by the 18-55 and the 55-200. Congrats on upgrading to the D7000. Great camera. If you would like the Setup Guide to it, just PM me your email address and I will email it to you. It's in PDF format, hence the need to email.

Using the M mode doesn't make anyone a "better" photographer, it just gives more options of control over your camera. My cameras spend most of their lives in Aperture mode, and switching to Manual mode in studio, or if I have a lot of time to set up a shot.

Thanks for all well wishes. I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with my D7000, although I'm sure it won't be as much as I would like.

I've quickly look through them over the holidays. Thanks for the reminder though as I need to go back and spend a more time with them.
