Nikon rediscovered.

Hi to everyone,

I live in North Shropshire, UK.
After getting my first SLR (Zenit B) back in 1964 I've had quite a few different units over the ensuing years (including my only previous Nikon SLR, a EM in 1980) only to switch to compact travel cameras around five years back when I was travelling a lot and lugging a DSLR around was becoming a pain. Anyhow, my son James (Pro photographer www.dlscape.com) got me interested in getting a new DSLR when we visited him in Queensland in October so I bought a D5300. Nice camera but a pain having to go into the menu for pretty much everything so a couple of weeks back got the D7100. James reckons I should have waited for it's successor, which is rumoured to be 'just around the corner', and for him that would be a good strategy, however, at 66 I ain't waiting for anything!
Anyhow, just discovered Nikonites and signed up as a contributing member.

Welcome. It is true that us old guys dare not wait around at all. I have a D7000 but hear nothing but good things about the D 7100

Thanks Ron, I really do like this D7100, however, I'm not too sure that it's that far ahead of the D7000? Certainly wouldn't have thought there was sufficient difference to make the jump.

Welcome aboard. Can't comment on the 7000 series as I've not owned any, but never heard a bad word about them, so that must say something
