Hello from western Kentucky :)

Hi everyone... stumbled upon this site by accident, was looking for tips on shooting lightening! anyway, so far I am sincerely greatful i've found this! Let's see, i'm a mom of two beautiful kids (who are SICK of being the subjects of my shooting), EMT, student, oh yeah, and self-taught photographer. I've done several weddings, senior shoots, families and children, but what i enjoy most is just hopping in the jeep with my camera and driving, just to see what i might come across. Started out with the N60 about 12 years ago and swore i would never go digital. well, i had my mind changed for me when my mom gave me the D40 2 years ago for christmas, and then she gifted me with the D5000 in 2010 for my christmas gift again... i love my mom!! anyway, anything that i've learned as far as photography goes, has been learn as i go, with PLENTY of mistakes and mishaps.... but ask anyone that knows me, i've always got my nikon with me!! wouldn't have it any other way!!

Hmmm... Mom gives daughter D40... then mom gives daughter D5000... let's see, your mom wouldn't be looking to make an adoption would she? Lol... just kidding. You have a great mom, not many are that generous or can afford to be that generous nowadays. You're lucky to have her. In any case welcome to the Nikonites Community. Lightening is a very popular subject to shoot. If you haven't already found them there are several threads on this site regarding getting shots of lightening. Takes a lot of patience. The D5000 is a good camera and we would like to see some of your shots with it in your gallery. Enjoy.
