Hi everyone, future convert here

Hi all,

My name is Bruce and I live in Northern California. I started shooting 30 year ago but stopped for nearly 25. I restarted just over 2 years ago and shoot pretty mc everything I can except weddings.
I said I am a future convert. I currently use Sony A77 but I am trying to decide between a D610 or D810. I hope to be able to contribute to the site

Hi Bruce!

I'm in much the same situation as you are! Semi pro up to 20 years ago, my last SLR was a Canon EOS 35mm. Thinking about a D610, but waiting for the announcement of the new camera at Photokina.

Hi Gorf,

Im waiting to hear as well I really want the 810 but then getting quality glass would be a stretch, the "750" might be what the DR ordered.

Generally, anything technology based is:- Get the best you can afford now, as if you save, there is always something better about to come out and you end up always waiting...

That being said, size & weight etc. also come into it. Both of those models are new (D610 more new-ish) so I'd say to get your hands on both and see which you prefer. There are plenty of people here who own those models, and some that maybe own or have used both.

Ha, me too! If I went for the D810, I could only afford 2 lenses at the most. It's a difficult decision!

Welcome (from another convert... in my case Olympus) I have NEVER regretted my move from the Oly brand, and am so happy to have found this great forum.

Welcome to the forum Bruce.

I would also be on the look out for the next generation of the D700. It would be a much more ideal camera based on what I am used to. 51 AF points on FX is very important for me. D800 / D810 is also very nice, however, I think the 24 mega pickles sensors are just about right nowadays.
