Should I wait for new D5300

I am using a Nikon D3100 since Nov 2010 and built up a series of Nikon lenses (Nikon55-200/Nikon 50 mm 1.8D/ Nikon 35mm 1.8G/ Sigma 10-20) around it. My point of interest is 'people'.

Now for sharper and better qualities, I need an upgrade. May go for D7000 or D7100...but problem is that on 'brush fire' both camera choke due to their ageing Expeed 3 processor and low buffer memory.

Shoud I wait for new D5300 to solve these issues ?

What is wrong with the D7100's buffer? Do you really need to motordrive? Just sayin...The D7100 is a great camera....Very sharp with good glass in front of it...Mine is for sale due to me going FX...Shot with the D7100...

The D7100 certainly is a fine camera, but the above is an issue for some shooters. This appears to be a concern to the poster.

That said I'm sure it's fine for people shots (maybe not fast sports?). I think it's mostly the wildlife shooters that have issue.

....and in reality, how many of us are truly paid sports photographers on here? Most of them have their equipment paid for by the publications they work for. Unless you are a top notch free lancer, you don't need much faster speed than the D7100 can offer. If you do need it, skip the D7100 and go directly to the D800.

Also if you really know your subject and what they do.
The fps on the D7100 is plenty fast enough.
No need for pray and shoot. 10 or more f.p.s.

Welcome. You say you mostly shoot people. Are they stationary subjects or moving/sports related?

Is your main need to upgrade to take more images in a shorter period of time?

Joe > Not necessarily that I would go for sports photography. Yeah, sometimes my subjects move (eg. dance prog in stage). In those cases, I felt that the 11 point focusing system of D3100 is not sufficient enough - so the upgrade.
I also love performance of D7100 in light and shade situations ...much better than D3100..
