@Chase_ , not sure what part of Dallas you are from, but you have city parks, the Zoo, downtown areas. Honestly anywhere you have you have camera with is a great spot.

What kind of shots are you wanting to take?

Sports, Architecture, Animals, People and the list goes on.

I'm going with my grandpa so it's kinda just anything and everything

I can't help because I've never been to Dallas, but I'm thinking more information is required. Architecture, landscapes, portraits, nature, wildlife? What do you want to shoot?

If he is from the area then I bet he has some good ideas, you just need to decide on what you really want to capture. But it should be a good weekend to go to the Dallas or Ft Worth Zoo. Also, there is the new Perot Science Museum which you can always walk around downtown and take some architecture shots or people ( street photography) shots.

The site of the Kennedy Assassination is a tourist favorite...and the Old Red Courthouse. Cowtown in Ft. Worth has some interesting characters riding around on their horses and walking through the area if you want some Western shots.

I'm sorry to be less than generous, and welcome to the forum, but my first suggestion is that maybe you need to sell your camera and buy some postcards if that is your first question of us.

Like I said, sorry.

Dude, really?! WTF?! You've never traveled somewhere for the first time? And did you even read the thread?! He's going there with his grandfather (of indeterminate age), so maybe it's not quite convenient to put on your explorer hat and just go roaming.

I swear, some times I just don't get people. Perhaps a more intelligent first question would have been, "What the hell is wrong with some of those guys across the pond that makes them so unbelievably surly all the time?"

I've tried using this site before and it's just so incredibly annoying in that it won't allow any right-clicking to open any of the information in another tab or window. So any additional information about any one location requires a click-thru. The, when you go BACK it re-executes the search and you have to wait again. If only they'd open a click in a new window/tab it would be so much easier to use.

As it is, it simply mines map information from the various photo sites out there (I plugged in a nearby town and found all my Flickr photos that were geotagged).

So, if you find this site as difficult to navigate as I do, just go to Flickr or 500px (or any other photo sharing site) and use the map search there, or just plug "Dallas" into the tag search function.

Sigh.
