Hello my name is Kathy and I am not new to photography, but new to the world of DSLR cameras. I just got the Nikon D7000 for Christmas and would like to know if there are any sites or clinics where I could go to learn about using these kind of cameras. In the past I have used the point and shoot type of cameras. I have always wanted a higher end camera so that I could take better action and telephoto pics. I typically like to take nature and landscape type of pics. I am looking forward to being a member here!

Welcome to the forum, Kathy. You came to the right place if you want to learn anything to do with your new D7000. We have people here who are more than willing and able to help you in any way possible. You'll have fun doing it, too. :)

hello everyone my name is Ron.

I purchased the d3100 because I was having a lot of fun with my Kodal 8.2 but felt I wanted to really try to take great pictures.

I am not a very technically bent person so it is going to be a challange to get the most out of my camera.
Really want to find a club or gathering where I can get hands on help.

I am on facebook

Welcome to the forum, read your manuals cover to cover, check out blue crane's digital videos. Any help you need you will find someone here that will help you out. Good shooting. Kathy, let me know how you like the D7000 :).

I want a D7000 too, but I am very happy with my D90. Welcome to the forum. If you haven't already, read Ken Rockwell's review of the D7000 here

Hello Ron and welcome to Nikonites. Learning can be fun, getting out and using that camera is one of the best ways to learn.

Hello Kathy and welcome to the Nikonites forum! Wow, nice gift to get a great camera like that. Don't let all the knobs and settings discourage you, learn to use the camera in manual mode, you'll get more out of the camera and more flexibility for some great photography.
