Hello From A Total Newbie In Ohio

I have to admit ... I feel a little intimidated after reading some of the other introductions. I'm a total newbie with a D3100 and, at this point, I'm just trying to get a better understanding of basic photography as well as the controls of my camera. Up until this time, I've always had a point and shoot camera ... some being better than others.

I hope to learn a few tips from this forum. I have a one year-old granddaughter and this is one of my primary purposes of purchasing a better camera ... to record the highlights of her childhood. I also felt that, now that my children are grown, it would be a good time to develop a hobby that I never seemed to have time for before. DSC_0195.jpg

I've also gotten the "For Dummies" book, as well as watched some YouTube tutorials. I'd like to have an entire day to totally devote to this camera to practice, but I've had my granddaughter quite a bit lately. Lol.
