I have no doubt that you'll learn a lot here. I'm relatively new here and I've found this forum to have a fine group of people.

Hi, I have just joined in the last couple of weeks, and enjoying the forums. Photography has been my hobby most of my adult life, since around 1964. Spent many years with film, although never got into processing. Mostly black and white, but later on also colour. Both 35mm and 6x6cm: two 35mm Miranda SLR's, and a Rollieflex Twin Lens Reflex medium format (nice camera and great quality photos). Later on migrated to Pentax 'Program A' SLR with two Tokina zooms. Then started digital around 2002 with a basic Sony 5MP compact, then Panasonic FZ7 7MP bridge camera, then a Fuji S200EXR 12MP Prosumer (very nice camera, very DSLR like to use, but a small sensor limits its usefulness), and finally a D80, and now a D90. I have finally made it to APS-C! Phew! Maybe one day to FX???

I've been shooting with a D7000 for about 6 months now. I also have a Tokina lens that i absolutely love, mine is the 12-24.

Mine were a 20-80mm and a 70-210mm. These were purchased in 1983, so are older ones, but I found them very sharp and good colour handling. They were about half the price of the Pentax ones, and just as good.

I also shoot a 7000 and have a Tokina lens. Mine is a 28-70 f2.8. (atx 270) It's an older lens, but built like a tank and has some great optics.

Thank you all for the welcome!! Well, here goes the first stupid question, LOL!! Is it best to upload your photos or just provide a flickr link? i wasn't sure about the amount of space.

Hi Photo Joe, thanks. I should have entered a 28-80, not 20-80. This was also a 2.8. All metal construction in those days, will probably last forever. It cost me $NZ437 in 1983, so I don't know what that would be today, but probably quite a lot. I had a couple of cheap Nikkors for a while, a 28-80mm F3.3-4.5, but it was a terrible lens, not very sharp and very wobbly focus ring. Manual focussing was difficult. I also had a Nikkor 70-300mm, but the cheap model. This was even worse than the 28-80. Zoomed in to 300mm it was way out of focus. Not impressed. I guess you get what you pay for.:pride:

As I am new to this forum, can someone tell me how to start a new thread if I have some specific question? Do I have to have been active for a certain time first? I had a bit of a look, but I can't find anywhere to do that.

Navigate to the particular forum that your thread subject falls into, so that could be a specific camera, telephoto lenses, etc etc.

Then at the top left you'll see this....

Click ' post new thread ' and then type in the title bar what is you want help with, then elaborate in the post itself
