Looks like an upgraded battery, @Woodyg3 although I don't know how much it will be different. Dan, will it have the same processor? I'm not familiar with specs of the mirrorless bodies. But the fact that it will have 2 slots is excellent.

The new S models will have the same sensor but a new dual processor supposedly. The battery will be one that can be charged while the camera is being used.

2 card slots are great but I'm only tempted if it has GPS.

The Current Z cameras have gps if linked with Snap Bridge. I use it all the time. I link my phone and a 3 GIG JPG saves to the phone and the GPS location is saved on the phone and shared with the camera. I upload the file to LR and I have the GPS coordinates. It only works if you are linked via Bluetooth to your phone. It is slick and has very little impact on battery life.

I'm only interested if there's no GPS, or at least if the GPS can be turned off...

You would be pleased with the Snap Bridge Option.

I wonder what will be new other than card slots. Interesting.

The card slots are assumed to be a SD cards, but that is still uncertain. The other thing is a working Vertical Grip.

I am anxious to hear more details, but I am not ready to upgrade for this. I think you could see some folks make the move since two big complaints are being addressed. Especially since so many improvements have been made to the focus system.

Upgraded battery....probably charges while being used, which is good. But I always carry a spare anyway.

Dual slots: for me, o interest. Touch wood I’ve never in 15 years lost a card. For a pro I can see the benefit.

Dual processors. Not an improved version, but it will help, I read, the internal processing required for the AF system.

Probably not enough for me to “upgrade”.

Personally I’d rathe Nikon got their lens production sorted and give us some more lenses!

Cheers

The "upgraded" battery is probably only a small increase in capacity, there's only so much you can do in the available space. Not going to see a significant increase in the abysmal battery life until they give up the form factor and go to a larger battery, like Sony figured out they had to early in the A7 series.

Patrick, I meant to include that last part in my post. I prefer to save my dollars for a couple new lenses like a S macro and 70-200 f2.8 lenses... likely more.

Hi all,
I'm back after a what seems like years away, nice to see you all again!

I traded in my D750 last week and got a Z6 with 24-70 f4. Absolutely love it, but as others have said I'd prefer to see a more rapid release of new lenses.
I'd like to be in a place where the only F mount lens I use is my Sigma 150-600, then everything else is Z... I think the 85 1.8 will be my next purchase, and I look forward to seeing when the 105 Macro comes out. I currently have no idea how I am going to sneak a purchase of the 70-200 f2.8s past my wife at £2300 though.....

Welcome back!

I have the same view. I’ve sold all my F lenses along with my DSLR for the Z 6 and the z 24-70f4 and I’ve the z 70-200 f2.8 on order, although it’s been 2 months now on back order! But anyways, the 24-70 is a super lens and I’ve not felt the need for a prime, yet

Cheers
Patrick

I’m wondering if the dual processors will enable faster AF in a similar way that Canon has with Dual Pixel AF II in the new R6?

Welcome back Steve and congrats on the Z6. I love mine too. You will truly enjoy that 85 1.8 lens. It is an amazing lens. I used my for some senior photos for friends and stuff at church. I am choking on the price of the 70-200 as well. The one good bit of news is that Tamron is developing some glass for the Z mount. Hopefully they will come out with a 70-200 G2 for that mount. I am afraid I that the price of the Nikon version is at my self-imposed threshold.

I am kind of curious about what that means to the AF now that you mention it. I will have to keep an eye out for Matt Irwin videos on YouTube. He tends to make some interesting guesses on stuff like that.

I just watched this video by Matt Irwin. That was the speculation that you mentioned. In the first 3 minutes or so he speaks to the Dual Processor. He also mentions that the single processor is a limitation for the Z6 and Z7 focus.

Yes, I saw that. What surprised me was that he thinks, and I have to agree, that it’s Sony that should worry. They’ve just been shown that Canon can match them, and that me and Nikon can too. Their market lead is gone. Good for the consumer though.
