Nikon Z6-7 VS Canon new mirrorless EOS R

So just a few days apart we see Canon with their mirrorless camera. Unlike Nikon, they decided to go in between with only 1 model with 30 some megapixels. They also have come out with a larger lens mount.
You can see the link below.

    https://www.canonrumors.com/canon-of...-eos-r-system/

Now what troubles me is that both companies come out with a very similar product weeks apart... To me, it certainly looks like they have been doing joint research and are colluding (maybe just a tiny touch) to keep their shares of the market against Panasonic, Sony and Fuji... Maybe it's just me, but I smell collaboration between the "supposed" ennemies.

So the knife throwing contest is about to begin between these twos again, just in time to get attention from the social medias, creating the consumers' desires to spend some serious money into a whole new system. OF course, both companies offer the adapter, but they'll soon be selling lenses that will be performing so much better that one would be a fool not owning one...

Ah, the market will always be the marketing teams, joining efforts to get more money out of our pockets.

I wonder how long I'll be able to resist the GAS syndrome.

    Enjoy your Nikons.

I've been NAS resistant for at least 2 years. And GAS resistant for maybe a year. An empty wallet is typically the best medicine.

If it's true I think it makes sense to collaborate with C@non. They are familiar foes and know they can survive a war with each other. I think they realize the game has changed, not only Fuji, Sony and Panasonic... but I would throw smartphones in there as well. I think with that type of competition they would gladly collaborate.

The Nikon is 55mm and the Canon is still 54mm ?

They havent been sharing research, Canon were all set to announce a new mirrorless, then Sony brought out the A73 and they cancelled the announcement and went back to the drawing board

As funny as it sounds, I'm honestly seriously considering our 7. IF i end up doing more video work, it'll fit the bill like no other. 45MP would be new to me, but then with 9fps and cropping down to say 20 it'll take care of wildlife and skipping the 500. Same old ENEL15s I have plenty of is another welcome addition.

I have actually been thinking a lot about the Z7 as my next upgrade from the D700. It would be next year, but I have been reading some decent reviews and watching a few videos and it I actually like what I see.

I know that the one card issue bugs me, but I have been shooting the fire out of the D700 with no issues. I also do not like the fact that it does not have a grip, but when I consider how often I take portrait shots it is less concerning.

I do like the built-in VR and I do like the focus stacking. I do not do a lot of sports and the D7200 will still do most of the bird and wildlife stuff IF I can ever get back to that.

But like I said it will be a while and I could change my mind again, but I am surprised that I am thinking about it. I was kind of thought the 850 would be the ticket...

Well, there is no rush. I am just thinking it over.

It's so so easy to get caught with this buying rage we seem to be getting into. I don't know if all of you are like me, but I get all excited and think that I need the newer stuff to enjoy photography more.
Now this is such a misconception created by marketing specialists that make their living by making us believe.

When I stop to think about it, I know that I will NOT do better images with newer equipment. There are lots of things that I haven't done and that I will never do WITH or WITHOUT a new camera body. But it's a daily battle to just stop looking at this newer stuff, it's all over the social medias and maybe this is how we are fed "needs" and wants. When I remove myself from such advertising and go out with my camera, I still enjoy myself a lot more than when I sit in front of my computer and look at all the new stuff I don't have.

Have a great Thanksgiving with your loved ones and say thank you for all you have. Nothing that you buy can make you as happy as having a family and friends to live with, and don't let "stuff" get in the way of your happiness.
