Laurie and I were incredibly fortunate to have two days last week to visit Plitviče Lakes National Park. (Visiting was one of her bucket list items.) The park is a 295-sq.-km forest preserve in central Croatia. It's known for a chain of 16 terraced lakes, joined by waterfalls, that extend into a limestone canyon. The waters flowing over the limestone and chalk have, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams. Walkways and hiking trails wind around and across the water, and a ferry links the upper and lower lakes.

The images and video below were captured by Laurie using a Nikon 1 J5. More examples, including my images captured with a Fuji X-T1, are available here.
