RAW and a hotshoe are big items for a section of buyers :(

All Nikon 1's shoot RAW. I recently purchased a J4 on close-out for my wife. The flash works well and can be adjusted via compensation as well.

I have a SB-N5 purchased when I had my V1. Now that I'm shooting a V2, I rarely even bring it because the pop-up does a very nice job of fill flash (example below of some friends).

Understood, but I rarely use straight on flash for anything. If I have a flash on the hotshoe, it is being redirected or modified.

I also enjoy OCF and when I am ready to buy a second camera in this arena, that is important to me :)

Sounds like the V-series is what you need. Personally, I like the SB-N5 as well.

The only thing that bugs me about the N1 series is the ISO choices. I really like to use 800 or below, but the 400-800 jump is annoying! Hope they change that for the V4!

FWIW...

I tend to collect Nikon camera manuals in PDFs. I have been waiting for the Nikon 1 J5 manual to be posted on the Nikon website.

You can now download the manual from Nikon Europe on their One J5 product line.
