I haven't used the FT-1 adapter either. The DPReview Nikon 1 forum has a lot of discussion regarding the adapter - but that seems to have died down a bit since the introduction of the 70-300 CX lens.

The main lens i would like to use is my Sigma 105 macro, its the early none motor version and ime hoping it will be seen as a CPU lens auto exposure manual focus 280mm ish macro

Instead of reposting pics, see this thread. I loved the V2 and Nikon 70-200 f4 combo, Super sharp and relatively fast. You need good fast glass to get excellent results. 540mm FoV. BTW, The Nikon 1 30-110 really is a great little lens also.

Thanks Rick,i have a 30-110 waiting for me to buy when i have received the camera and confirmed its the way i want to expand, the 30-110 is a stupid cheap price @ £140,then i will decide between the FT-1 and extension tubes

The FT1 works well with Nikon AFS lenses, it works with some 3rd party lenses, but not all. I find using manual focus with my V2 not very easy to do, I stick with AF lenses.

I've not used my FT-1 with a non-Nikon lens, but I like it on my Nikon lenses. Anyone hearing any good or bad news on the CX 70-200mm? I've seen images on another Nikon forum that I visit. Those photos are excellent. I've also read user and pro reviews on the lens. The majority of those reviews were positive, but a grand is much to ask for.

I bit the bullet & bought a 70-300cx. With the sale of my DX gear I had money burning a hole in my pocket. I haven't used it much yet, race car season has past so I wait for spring. From what I've shot so far I'll say it is a great sharp lens. I'm not sorry I spent the money on it. But yes it's a pile of money for that lens.
