D750 or D500

If you had both cameras, which one would you use for macro work? This is assuming controlled conditions where you can stay at (or near) base ISO.

D750. By chart dynamic range is better on the D750 at ISO100 - it's actually better all across the board....its why I don't use my D500 for anything except wildlife and sports... :p

I don't have either camera and I have never had any full frame digital camera. That said, I would likely choose the d500 for macro. I always use flash with macro and keep iso very low. I use a higher aperture and back up enough to get a depth of field sufficient to get most of my subject in focus AND survive the cropping that I will need to do.

This is pretty much what I was thinking, too, although Mikew makes a good point about filling the frame. If the object is really small, the D500 lets me fill the frame better.

Yah - I see it - I go down to about flower size wrt macro's, so easy to fill the frame on an FX body....and to be fair, I haven't used really tried any real macro work with the D500...(to be really fair, I haven't really done much work the last couple of weeks with *any* camera) :-(

I don't think it matters... Macro is more a function of the lenses/adapters etc to get to where you need to be... ISO doesn't matter because under controlled conditions, you're supplying as much light as you need... speed doesn't matter, again, mostly tripod under controlled conditions... pick the camera with the most dense sensor if you wanna pick something...

An extension tube (or more than one coupled together) would help solve that issue.
