Well I did, around 2am. It cost me about a half unit of blood to the mosquitoes but it was worth it. D500, 600mm f/4 ED-IF AIS Nikkor and TC-300 2x, the equivalent focal length in 35mm is 1800mm. Exposure was 1/125 @f/11 @ISO 125

Very nice shot, Scott. Usually, this isn't the best time of the year to photograph heavenly bodies, as atmospheric heat distortion can be an issue.

And be sure to drink plenty of fluids and limit strenuous physical activity for about twenty-four hours after giving blood. ;)

It has been pretty warm here in SC. Even at 2am it was 85º and about 80% humidity

Those conditions are pretty miserable, all right.

Did a job take you to PI?

Yes. I was doing contract Clinical Microbiology at Georgetown Memorial. While here I met someone with whom I fell head over heels with and decided to stay. I am now retired and loving it.

That's a gorgeous shot.

Thanks. The 600mm f/4 ED-IF AIS Nikkor and TC-300 is a hard-to-beat combination, though at around 20+ pounds including camera, one that is completely not hand-holdable. But put it on a sturdy tripod (like the carbon fiber Sirui here) with a gimbal head and it is like a dream!
