Lighting in Photography | Light Painting Technique & Tips

So I read this today and found it interesting. Kind of a "duhh why didn't I think of that" kind of interesting. Anyone ever try it?

I had to have a go at it. I know it isn't the most interesting subject, but it's what I had to work with tonight lol.

I didn't think it came out to bad for a first timer.

Nice job Joe! I have been wanting to try this too. I saw a pic a few months ago where the person lit several headstones at a cemetery separately with a flash light or a hand held flash. Looked pretty cool. I saw it in class so I don't know where it is on the web to show you.

This is great, Joe! I really like the effect! There's some guy who paints light spheres . . . don't think I bookmarked it. Good for you!

That's pretty awesome - I'm going to have to try this. Now if only my cat will stay still long enough.

Joe, much harder than it seems. I spent the last 2-1/2 hours experimenting, but wasn't able to pull off the "glowing" like effect you have on your sneakers above (which BTW is an awesome photo for your first time).

This will take many more hours of experimentation. Thanks for introducing this!

Yeah Chris, it is harder than it seems. There are a LOT of factors involved. How much light, how bright, when to move it, where to put it etc. through a bit more experimenting, I have found using multiple objects in the scene help with the overall effect...kind of gives it more dimension. Good job on yours by the way.
