Here is a photo I took while out camping, I am heading back out there this weekend to try and capture some more interesting shots of this amazing area.

Excellent shot. Much prefer silhouettes like this to some of the light painted shots in your other thread. I need to get off the east coast of the US so I can see some stars again.

GREAT Milky Way shot!! LOVE the night shots where the scenery is simply "suggested" by the silhouettes. Feels more natural.

Yes, there are light paintings that I marvel over, too, but this just feels right.

I was trialling the light painting that night and must say that I was not too happy with them, I am hoping for alittle bit of moonlight this weekend (35% full moon) as this will add some light on the formations. I too prefer the silhouette shots but would like to do more with light painting. Think I need to experiment.

Very nice shot!!

Very nice Scott!

Cheers it is s fun place to walk around at night, even with the mosquitos.

I am really digging this picture a lot. I, too, really like the silhouettes in this shot.

Thank you guys and yes I like the natural feel and look of it.

Well done, has a balance about it that feels very tranquil and yet awe inspiring.

Cheers, this was my aim. I took a few more but this one turned out the best I think.

For this one I used my manual focus 14mm f/2.8 Rokinon. I find it a great lens to use.

thanks Scott, I am looking for the right lens for night sky work. I currently use 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 but as you know I end up with pretty high ISO to get the light right. I tried the Sigma 24mm f1.8 and the Samyang 24mm f1.4 but didn't like the sharpness on either, especially in the corners. I just ordered the Rokinon 24mm F1.4 to try out and am glad to hear you like your Rokinon. Here is a recent Milky Way shot with a Delta Aquarid meteor as a bonus. Thanks again for your input and if you know anything about the Rokinon 24 please share.
