when I saw it, I was confused for a second. cause the candle is right behind, but maybe next time try it with the candle to the left a bit (a lot of empty space) so both objects arent clashing one on another. the setup is nice and so is the idea, great exposure as well. just needs a bit of tweaking.

what specs for the shot?

Thanks. I agree it would be better with the candle to the left side and perhaps slightly more in focus.
I terms of the shot, it was taken using my 50mm f/1.8G lens, ISO100 on my D800 in aperture priority at f2.5. The effective shutter speed was 4.3secs

no, the focus is perfect and the exposure is perfect. I like the candle out of focus vs the match. it gives it depth. just next time move it to the left a bit. and zoom in a bit to cut the expty space above or show more of the candle holder at the bottom. just a lot of empty space around. nice thinking.
