Took this picture with the D810 and a Tamron 15-30mm. I've only had the camera for two weeks and the lens for even less, so it's getting used a bit.

What surprised me is that the clouds stand out so well. With the Canon 1ds3 I owned the highlights became easily overexposed; you would need a filter for this picture. Nikon doesn't seem to mind at all. 18879926_1092517997545378_1530783504224321624_o.jpg

I'd guess you're enjoying at LEAST a half-stop better dynamic range on your Nikon than you did your Canon, probably more. That makes a big difference.

But in all fairness the 1Ds Mark III is what... Ten years old now?
