    Yes it is. Also known as Parhelia. See them quiet often down in cornwall. They occur 22' away from the sun. I got my first double one this year ie on both sides of the sun. They are much rarer. I put an image of it on here a while back.

    Cool picture....very vibrant as most of the ones I have seen have less color and vibrancy.

    i had no idea what a sun dog was
    was searching for a dog

    an atmospheric phenomenon that consists of a pair of bright spots on either side on the sun, often co-occurring with a luminous ring known as a 22 halo
