Saguaro National Park trip

I took a quick drive out to Saguaro Nat. Park earlier this week hoping to capture some good thunderhead cloud vs. sun shots. Unfortunately, the storm didn't develop as I was hoping it would. But I did get a couple of consolation images and learned a lot about the area so that next time I go there I'll know exactly where I want to be. The very last sunset shot is a focus stack between the saguaro and the mountain. It's a shame I wasn't able to position myself better so as to have a cleaner shot.

Wow, Dave! Fabulous work! I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite out of the group! You "focus stacked" a landscape shot ? Which software did you use?

Thanks Don and Helene! For the stacking, I brought both images into Photoshop as layers and then aligned and blended the two together. I was surprised it came out like it did since they were both hand held shots. Both of the last two were shots were done with a 300mm so I could get the saguaro and mountains compressed together.

EXCELLENT! It has been years since I have been out there, like 1972!

Very nice!!! I hate to say it but I see saguaro all the time and kind of don't see them anymore but looking at your work I need to get out there and pay attention.

Btw, I just learned that the bird isn't a yellow shafted flicker but is instead a Gila Woodpecker. Here's dad hanging out away from the kids
